Architecture as Memory: Khyber Cement Unveils 2026 Cultural Calendar

Srinagar, Dec 26, KNT: Continuing its long standing cultural tradition, Khyber Cement on Thursday officially unveiled its 2026 calendar, themed “Kashmir’s Capital Architecture,” offering a visual journey through the architectural evolution of the Valley’s shifting seats of power across centuries.
The calendar presents a curated narrative of Kashmir’s political and cultural transformation, tracing the Valley’s capitals from ancient times to the modern era. Structured as twelve detailed chapters, the 2026 edition documents how power, faith and imagination have collectively shaped Kashmir’s architectural landscape.
Each month highlights a distinct phase in the Valley’s history, beginning with Pandrethan, where sacred stone structures symbolised early political authority during the era of Emperor Ashoka. The journey moves through the imperial stone architecture of Parihaspora and culminates in the seven storey wooden marvels of Nowshera, reflecting the ingenuity and adaptability of Kashmiri craftsmanship over time.
Speaking on the occasion, Umar Tramboo, Director Corporate and Strategy at Khyber Cement, said the calendar reflects the company’s belief in celebrating the region beyond business interests. He said the initiative underscores how closely the brand is connected to the soil and culture of Kashmir, adding that true progress is rooted in respect for history and heritage.
For Khyber Cement, the annual calendar has evolved into a cultural milestone, using architecture as a medium of storytelling. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Head Commercials, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, said Kashmir’s architectural history is a chronicle etched into the landscape, and the calendar seeks to preserve and present that legacy in a meaningful way.
The theme aligns with the company’s core philosophy of “Dil se banao,” reflecting an approach that combines emotional connection with responsible development.
The launch event was attended by dignitaries and senior officers of the Industries Department, including Hameeda Akhtar, General Manager, District Industries Centre Srinagar, who appreciated the initiative for preserving and showcasing Kashmir’s historical memory.
