Amazon most preferred e-commerce shopping site in Jammu and Kashmir, Flipkart second

Srinagar: Amazon is the most preferred e-commerce site in Jammu and Kashmir as a large section of internet users buy products through this online shopping platform.

As per Google Trends, more than 57 per cent of internet users search and buy goods on Amazon e-commerce site compared to other platforms including Flipkart, Myantra, Snapdeal, Ajio or others.
Google Trends shows that 43 per cent of the internet users in Jammu and Kashmir search Flipkart or shop through it.

On the other hand, in India, Flipkart has dominated Amazon when it comes to online shopping.

As per Google Trends, 54 per cent of Indian internet users search for Flipkart on the internet while as 46 per cent of users search Amazon.

As per the courier and logistics companies, e-commerce in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a boom in the last five years.
Sheikh Zahoor Qari, president of Kashmir Courier Association said that over 11000 people especially youth are associated with the e-commerce and logistics services in the valley.

“The number will go up as many new companies are coming up within the valley now. E-commerce has emerged as one of the leading sectors in the valley for the last few years,” he said.

Qari said for the last one year’s many new companies have emerged in Kashmir, which have changed the face of e-commerce sector.

“Right now, over 7000 boys might be working as courier boys and 4000 as employees. It associates people from various businesses and provides employment to them,” he said.
