Srinagar Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Wednesday issued a sharp rebuke in response to remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rejecting any notion of extending greetings and instead condemning what he described as Israel’s “illegal occupation of Palestine” and “genocide in Gaza.”
Reacting publicly, Aga Ruhullah said, “No, not my greetings. Give them my curses for their illegal occupation of Palestine and the genocide in Gaza,” underscoring his strong opposition to New Delhi’s diplomatic outreach toward Israel amid the ongoing conflict.
The statement came after Prime Minister Modi conveyed a message of friendship and partnership during his address, remarks that have drawn criticism from sections of the political spectrum over India’s posture on the Israel–Palestine issue.

Aga Ruhullah, known for his outspoken positions on human rights and international justice, reiterated his solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for accountability over civilian suffering in Gaza. He maintained that expressions of goodwill were inappropriate while military operations continued in the region.
The comments are likely to fuel further debate within Jammu and Kashmir’s political circles, reflecting divergent views on India’s foreign policy and the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Palestine.
