Govt Playing Politics with Students’ Future: JKBOSE Chairman Post Vacant, Lakhs Await Results

Qayoom Wani Slams Authorities for “Administrative Apathy” as Academic Careers Hang in Balance

Srinagar/Jammu: Qayoom Wani, Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), has issued a scathing condemnation of the prolonged failure to appoint a permanent Chairman to the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), calling it a “shameful act” of bureaucratic negligence that is destroying the careers of lakhs of students.

“Playing with the sentiments of the future generation and deriving sadistic pleasure from that is an absolutely shameful act,” Wani said, adding that the delay represents “blatant administrative apathy and political callousness.”

Results Delayed, Futures on Hold

With JKBOSE remaining headless during a critical period, the institution has been paralyzed—result declarations have stalled, leaving students who completed examinations months ago in agonizing uncertainty about their academic futures. Admissions, career planning, and academic schedules have been thrown into chaos.

“This is not a procedural lapse; it is a serious injustice to the youth of Jammu & Kashmir,” Wani declared. “Unfortunately, putting students’ careers at risk has become a norm in Kashmir, and this culture of irresponsibility must end immediately.”

Urgent Appeal to Leadership

JKCSF has made an urgent appeal to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister to rise above political interests and immediately appoint a competent full-time JKBOSE Chairman, ensuring pending results are announced without further delay.

“The government must understand that silence and delay are also decisions—and in this case, they are decisions against students. Accountability must be fixed, and such negligence must never be repeated,” Wani emphasized.

Standing with Students

JKCSF reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for students’ rights, stating it will continue raising its voice until the youth of Jammu & Kashmir receive the dignity, opportunities, and timely action they deserve.
