Srinagar, Mar 14 (KNC): A 19-year-old youth drowned in Dal Lake after a shikara he was sitting in accidentally overturned while he was taking a selfie on Saturday.
Officials told news agency Kashmir News Corner—(KNC) that Layaqat, who was working Houseboat at Abi Karpora in Dal Lake, was taking a selfie while sitting in a shikara when it suddenly overturned, causing him to fall into the lake.
The deceased has been identified as Layaqat Ahmed Poswal, a resident of Daradpora Kralpora in Kupwara district.
Locals immediately rescued him and rushed him to Khyber Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, authorities have taken cognisance of the incident and further proceedings are underway, they added.—(KNC)
