Panchkula, Dec 25 (KNC): Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Jammu and Kashmir, left-wing extremism-hit areas and the northeastern states have witnessed significant improvement in the security situation over the past decade, asserting that the country is now safer on these fronts.
Addressing the Passing Out Parade of Recruit Basic Course (RBC) Batch-93 in Panchkula, Shah as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said that when the Narendra Modi-led government assumed office, terrorism in J&K, left-wing extremism and insurgency in the Northeast were major challenges. “After ten years, peace has been largely restored in all these regions,” he said, adding that the Centre continues to stand firmly with the states in tackling drug trafficking, cybercrime, organised crime and human trafficking.
The Home Minister emphasised that the Union Government “stands like a rock” with state governments in strengthening law and order. He also highlighted key reforms under the new criminal laws, stating that forensic investigation has been made mandatory in serious offences carrying punishment of more than seven years to ensure conviction of the guilty.
Shah noted that the newly inducted constables are joining the force at a historic time, with colonial-era laws replaced by modern criminal legislation. He said the current batch is the first from Haryana trained under the new laws and praised the high educational qualifications of the recruits. As many as 5,061 constables formally joined the Haryana Police during the ceremony. (KNC)
